Current Exhibition at Tinsmiths, Ledbury…

Tinsmiths 20th Anniversary Year.

Stuart Houghton, Last Hurrah! 28th March - 27th April 2024.

To commemorate our special anniversary we have a bumper year of exciting exhibitions and events planned with artists and makers who have shared our story and a few who are new to the fold. Read on to find out what is coming up and make a note in your diary.

Stuart Houghton has been showing his ceramic work at Tinsmiths since 2008 and, more recently, his handsome beech chopping boards - for the multi-talented Stuart is also an accomplished woodworker. For this exhibition we are really pleased that Stuart will present a collection in both wood and porcelain themed around cooking, with a Japanese influence.

Good news:

The Ledbury Studio.

It seems so long since I last posted any news and I’m pleased to say I have lots.
Fleen Doran , my friend and fellow potter has just left the studio after over eight years with great news of her baby due very soon.
I’m sure we’ll be meeting with her to see the new edition and a potter’s update, I’m thinking she won’t be long away from her potter’s wheel or her teaching activities.
I’ll continue my guitar and furniture building in my Ledbury Studio and hopefully before the end of Autumn I’ll return to my pottery studio at home in Little Marcle.

Big Charity Throwdown.

Some will have heard of my mad idea to try and raise £4000 and attempt to throw 100 jugs in the Lobby of The Heritage Centre, Church Lane.
I’ll be there On the 3rd and 4th of September from 10am to 4pm, please come along and say hello.
You can buy a signed porcelain jug for £25 or just donate.
I’ve already raised just over £1600, so thanks to everyone for this, and I will publish the results after the marathon session!!
I am supplying all the clay and the firing so every penny will go to the charities.
I will be dividing all the money I raise equally between four charities…Herefordshire MINDThe Haemophilia Society, BEAT eating disorder charity, and Ledbury Places, the charity working to maintain buildings for community use.

This is also the start of Herefordshire Art Week held in the county for ten days.
I have been working with Tinsmiths of Ledbury who are part of Herefordshire Art Week- as well holding an exhibition in The Upper Floor for the whole of September.

Please contact myself or Tinsmiths if you’d like any further information.

Mugs for BEAT

Stuart starts potting again. Over the last couple of weeks Stuart contacted his friends offering a porcelain mug with their name on the base with all proceeds going to the hard pressed eating disorder charity BEAT.

Stuart is is now very busy and thanks everyone who helped raise £930

Welcome to my new site

2020 sees my long awaited new website...huge thanks to Fleen Doran for getting all this together, and thank you to Dan Barker for the fabulous new photographs.

I hope you find the site an interesting journey, with a flavor of the past and an inside look at what I’m up to now.

Without my new teachers, Stuart Giles and Richard Meyrick , none of my exciting new directions would  have been possible.
